Annie Fish is a musician, cartoonist, and author based in Chicago. Her newest album "Weird Like Me" is a "fake album" from 1994, and is as much about trying to recreate the memory of an alternative album as it is really taking the era to task.
The "oral history" Annie wrote for the project (anniefish.net/weird.html) is in part about popping every single balloon of their childhood dreams of rock stardom and imagining what the horrors of being trans in the mainstream would have been like in the 90s, as it is about trying to really get the feeling and texture of 90s MTV down.
This is a fantastic project, and an incredibly creative way to come to terms with one's fantasies vs reality.
I highly recommend giving this episode a listen, and Annie's record a purchase!!
